Organic soy expeller cake RFQ: specifications, volumes and documents

A useful organic soy expeller cake inquiry gives every producer the same buying brief. Tell our MUSE team the ingredient, intended use, target specification, volume and destination so offers can be compared on the same basis.

MUSE sourcing team
01

Start with the ingredient and its use

Name organic soy expeller cake or soy press cake and identify the intended animal and formulation use. Ask for the production route and heat-treatment details before comparing it with a product offered as soybean meal.

  • State whether you need a feed ingredient or a finished feed.
  • Request the producer name, origin, current technical sheet and processing-aid information.
02

Make the specification measurable

Write your target crude protein, residual oil, moisture, fibre and physical form into the request. Ask for the units, analytical methods and results for the offered lot. Agree sampling and acceptance conditions with the supplier and your nutrition or quality team.

  • Request a lot-level certificate of analysis (COA), not only a general brochure.
  • Include the contaminant tests relevant to the origin, intended use and destination.
03

Separate the first order from recurring demand

State the first-order quantity and expected monthly requirement separately. Add packaging, delivery port, delivery window and receiving or storage constraints. This lets suppliers explain a workable delivery plan without assuming a container size or minimum order.

  • Specify the unit for each quantity and any phased deliveries.
  • Ask the supplier to confirm available packaging, lead time, Incoterms and inspection arrangements in its offer.
04

Connect the organic document chain to the lot

Request the relevant organic standard, operator or processor certificate, scope and validity. Match the producer, exporter, product description and batch references across the technical sheet, COA and shipping documents. For an organic import into the EU, include the electronic certificate of inspection (e-COI) handled through TRACES.

  • Check that the certificate covers the offered product and processing site.
  • Keep the lot and shipment references consistent across the document pack.
05

Confirm destination requirements before fixing delivery

Name the destination market and receiving importer in the brief. Ask the importer to confirm the applicable feed import and clearance route. Where your contract or destination requires halal evidence, request the issuer, product and site scope, validity and batch linkage together with the organic and feed-safety records.

  • Review feed-business hygiene and traceability records alongside product documents.
  • Agree the sample, inspection, document deadlines and handling of a rejected lot before finalising commercial terms.

Buyer questions

Can I compare organic soy expeller cake by protein alone?

Compare protein with residual oil, moisture, fibre, physical form, production details and lot test methods. Use the same specification and acceptance conditions for each supplier.

What quantity should I put in the first inquiry?

Give your actual first-order requirement and expected monthly demand, with units, packaging and delivery window. Ask the supplier to confirm feasible order and shipment quantities in its offer.

Does an organic certificate replace the lot COA?

Request both. The organic document chain covers the relevant operator, product and scope; the lot COA provides the measured results for the material offered. Link both to the same batch and shipment.
